St. Jean Pied de Port Happy 4th of July!!

In Beyonne, France, afternoon taking a bus to Lidsjöping, staying overnight at a Connect Hotel 300 meters (slowly becoming Euopean) from the airport--simple yet elegant, clean, all we needed. Short flight to Biarritz, then taxi to Beyonne Gare to take the train to St. Jean Pied de Port, where we will spend the night and then start up over the Pyrenes tomorrow--very early to get to Roncevalles, Spain. We have to complete that first, grueling 27 k in one day because no services exist between SJPdP and Roncevalles--seems daunting yet necessary. We sat in an outdoor cafe for just a smal bite while we waited for the train. Fairly warm and overcast--supposed to get quite warm the first days of the pilgrimage. SJPdP is adorable. Wonderful food at our first Pilgrims' dormitory. Going to bed early to get an early start. We begin for reals tomorrow--July 5th.
